Publication of the AGQM Biodiesel Quality Report 2025
To achieve its climate protection targets in the transport sector, Germany will need a combination of climate-friendly liquid fuels, electric mobility, hydrogen applications and new mobility concepts. Biodiesel (FAME – fatty acid methyl ester) in particular remains an indispensable part of the transition, as it delivers immediate greenhouse gas savings and addresses the needs of the existing vehicle fleet.
The Biodiesel Quality Report 2025 from AGQM (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Qualitätsmanagement Biodiesel e.V.) demonstrates once again that the biodiesel produced by its members in Germany and Austria meets the highest quality standards and thus makes a reliable contribution to decarbonisation in the transport sector.
One of AGQM’s key tasks in the field of quality assurance is to carry out unannounced sampling at its members’ premises, including biodiesel manufacturers and traders. For this purpose, samples are taken directly from ongoing operations and thoroughly tested for compliance. The results are then published annually in anonymised form. In 2025, a total of 67 samples with 1,273 test parameters were analysed, with the acceptance limit being exceeded in only two cases. This underlines the outstanding quality of the biodiesel produced by AGQM members, which is suitable for use both as a pure fuel and in blends.
‘The results of our unannounced sampling for 2025 clearly demonstrate that the biodiesel produced by our members in Germany and Austria meets the highest quality standards,’ said Katharina Friedrich, Manager at AGQM. ‘Through its consistent commitment to quality, the industry is demonstrating that biodiesel is a reliable building block for greater climate protection in the transport sector.’
