Dioxin content of Biodiesel below limit for foods and animal feed
Due to the Dioxin scandal in Germany at the end of 2010, AGQM initiated the testing of Biodiesel with regard to any Dioxin content. Not only were all levels of the samples tested way lower than the permissible limit for technical products, but in all cases they were also below the significantly lower limits for foods and feed. In most cases the level was even below the quantification limit. more…

5th „Biodiesel“ International Conference
The Association Quality Management Biodiesel (AGQM) organizes its fifth international conference on biodiesel in Berlin on 6th and 7th October, 2011. The focus at the conference will be on current aspects of quality assurance, research results of the application in engines (B100 and blends), in addition to current developments and trends in the international markets for biodiesel. For the first time, participants will be informed in detail on the future focus of the application of biodiesel as blending component in heating oil. more…

AGQM and FAM organize joint round robin for biodiesel and rapeseed oil fuel
Round-robins for verifying test methods and the correctness of the work of professional laboratories have a long and successful tradition with Fachausschuss Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM), the Mineral Oil and Fuels Standardization Committee within DIN. The increasing use of biofuel and biogenic mixing components increasingly requires round robins also for these product classes. more…

AGQM-project report: "Recommendations for a Mexican biodiesel standard and the Infrastructure required for its handling"
Since governments and societies becoming more and more aware of the geopolitical, economical and environmental risks of oil dependency biofuels are gaining a rising attention. In Mexico the use of biodiesel as an additive to improve the lubricity of Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel is considered. As the biodiesel quality affects the properties of the final blended fuel agreeing on common standard for biodiesel properties is an important step towards the creation of a national biodiesel market. more…

No-harm-list for oxidation stabilisers for biodiesel
The Association Quality Management Biodiesel (AGQM) has successfully completed the fourth period of no-harm tests for oxidation stabilisers in biodiesel as blend component. The purpose of these challenging tests was to ensure that the chemical and technical characteristics of the fuels are not impaired in any way, that no inadmissible interaction with other fuel components occurs and that a comprehensible description of application is available. more…

AGQM and FAM complete 2010 joint round-robin for biodiesel and rapeseed fuel
Round-robin tests to verify the test methods and correct work of professional laboratories have a long and successful history with Fachausschuss Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM) of the DIN - the German standardization organization for fuels and lubricants. The increasing use of biofuels and organic mixing components has shown an increasing need for round-robins for these classes of products. Therefore, Arbeitsgemeinschaft Qualitätsmanagement Biodiesel e.V. (AGQM), together with FAM, is also conducting round robins to study biodiesel as an element of the quality assurance system. Based on these activities, cooperation between FAM and AGQM has become closer in the last few years. more…

Minor Components in Rapeseed and Soy Oils – AGQM publishes study on steryl glycoside content
The processing and refining steps implemented by oil mills for the production of rapeseed and soy oils, intended for the production of Biodiesel, have an impact on the concentration of acylated steryl glycosides (ASG) and steryl glycosides (SG). These minor components – natural components of vegetable oils – are suspected to negatively influence the filterability of Biodiesel. more…

Commercial vehicle manufacturer approvals on using biodiesel (B100)
German biofuel associations published a list of all commercial vehicles, which have received a release for the use of pure biodiesel (B100) or a proportion of 30 percent (B30) from their manufacturers. The list is based on a survey among commercial vehicle manufacturers carried out in the spring of 2010. more…
