New found enzyme responsible for seed oil production
US Biologists found a new enzyme (Plastid Lipase 1, PLIP1) in plants that breaks down the internal membranes of chloroplasts which consist of lipids. These lipids are transported to the endoplasmic reticulum where they become building blocks for seed oil. more…
