Start of the Round Robin Tests for Biodiesel and Vegetable/Used Cooking Oils 2024

Start of the round robin tests of the Association Quality Management Biodiesel (AGQM) - register now until 16th February 2024.

In cooperation with the Technical Committee for Mineral Oil and Fuel Standardization (FAM) in DIN, AGQM offers the world’s most extensive round robin tests for biodiesel (fatty acid methyl ester, FAME) and vegetable & used cooking oils.

A total of seven independent proficiency tests with different parameters are offered, for which the usually more than 50 participants can register specifically. This offers all participants the opportunity to avoid unnecessary costs and save resources.

In the main part FAME, in addition to the parameters of EN 14214 some additional parameters such as pour point and saturated monoglycerides are offered. In the new round robin test FAME - Total contamination offered the first time in 2024, participants can check the performance of their determination of the content of undissolved substances for the first time. In four further proficiency tests, the parameters oxidation stability, methanol, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and the cetane number are tested. The independent round robin test "Vegetable & Used Cooking Oils" addresses the analysis of oils (DIN 51623 and EN 14214). Vegetable and used cooking oils are used, among other things, as starting materials for the production of biodiesel, so that the analysis of oils and fats is an important aspect of quality assurance, also with regard to incoming goods inspection.

"Why do we put so much effort into revising our round robin tests every year? Because one of AGQM's tasks is to support companies and laboratories in the quality assurance of biodiesel and co-products. We take the feedback from all participants very seriously and try to implement it as quickly as possible and further improve our tests," says Dr. Richard Wicht, CEO of AGQM.

After the round robin tests have been carried out, each participant receives an anonymized evaluation report and a certificate as proof of their own measurement competence.

The registration for the round robin tests is still possible until 16th February 2024 at http://rrt.agqm-biodiesel.com.
