No-harm-list for oxidation stabilisers for biodiesel

No-harm-list for oxidation stabilisers for biodiesel

Fourth test period successfully completed

The Association Quality Management Biodiesel (AGQM) has successfully completed the fourth period of no-harm tests for oxidation stabilisers in biodiesel as blend component. The purpose of these challenging tests was to ensure that the chemical and technical characteristics of the fuels are not impaired in any way, that no inadmissible interaction with other fuel components occurs and that a comprehensible description of application is available. The Standard DIN 51628 urgently recommends oxidation stabilisers as biodiesel component in B7 fuel. This recommendation, which is based on practical experience, has been included in many binding delivery specifications for biodiesel throughout the world. Similar requirements are also under discussion for the revision of European standards for blended fuels. DIN 51628 at the same time makes reference to additional no-harm requirements for such additives. At present, clients can choose now from 27 tested products from 16 suppliers in 9 countries. In addition, tests of product efficiency were also performed providing information which allows the optimized application taking economic aspects into account. The list is available at: http://www.agqm-biodiesel.de/index.php?msg=179 Prompted by inquiries, AGQM has decided to start a fifth test period. The results of that test period are expected to be available by the middle of 2011.
