OMV to produce biofuels from 2023

From 2023, the biofuel 2-propanol will be produced from glycerine (the by-product of FAME production) at the refinery site in Schwechat (Austria). A total of 30 million euros will be invested in the 'Glycerine2Propanol' pilot plant. With an annual production of 1.25 million litres of 2-propanol, it should be possible to save 1,800 tonnes of CO₂ per year and to contribute to the further development of advanced biofuels.
