Life cycle analysis of drive technologies - FVV meta-study published

In the recently meta-study published by FVV (Research Association for Internal Combustion Engines), existing life cycle studies of various drive technologies from the last 15 years were analysed. It turned out that there is no best technology if the complete life cycle is considered, but the CO₂ footprint of internal combustion engines with regenerative fuels is lower in comparison to other drive technologies. Finally, it is recommended by the authors of the study that future directives and guidelines on climate protection should be among others cross-sectoral and technology-open to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions from road traffic.
