Indonesia wants to delay the introduction of B40 biodiesel
Plans to increase the share of palm oil-based biodiesel in Indonesia to 40% (B40) have been postponed. Instead, the B30 mandate introduced last year will be continued. Necessary road tests for B40 could not be carried out to a sufficient extent due to the Corona Pandemic. There had previously been speculation that low crude oil prices could lead to a change in government thinking. The biodiesel program is a key element of the government's strategy to reduce surplus palm oil stocks and curb expensive fuel imports, which are one of the main causes of the country's current account deficit.
