Highly contaminated animal fats may be converted into biodiesel

The BDI BioEnergy research team has succeeded in obtaining approval from the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) for its RepCAT process for the recycling of high-risk fat materials. In the RepCAT process, a safe, high-quality biodiesel can be produced from highly contaminated and environmentally hazardous animal fats with the help of a recyclable catalyst.

Three large-scale industrial biodiesel plants are currently being built by BDI in the USA and Europe, where the RepCAT technology is to be used.
