Fundamental Consequences for Agriculture and Climate Protection

On November 30, the European Commission has presented their draft of the revised Renewable Energy Directive (RED II). So-called first generation biofuels shall be reduced from now 7% to 3.8% in 2030. Only in 2015, the maximum limit of 7% was introduced by taking into account all economic, ecologic and social aspects. A reduction of biofuels from cultivated biomass would have fundamental consequences for agriculture and climate protection.
