80 years of biodiesel

In the summer of 1937, the first patent for the transesterification of vegetable oils was issued, and thus the biodiesel was invented. Nowadays biodiesel is the most important biofuel in Germany and also Eurpoe, accounting for almost 60 %. With average GHG savings of 73 % (BLE) a story of success is to be continued for the decarbonization of the transport sector.
