EU must change import duties on Indonesian biodiesel

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has ruled in favor of several challenges by Indonesia and against anti-dumping duties on its biodiesel exports to the European Union. A WTO panel on the case said that the EU needed to bring its measures into conformity with WTO agreements. A similar ruling was made in favor of Argentina in 2017. The WTO panel found that the calculation of a “normal value” for the products, which the EU decided to make because of “dumping prices” resulting from heavily regulated biodiesel markets in these two countries, was against the antidumping-agreement. Last week the EU decided to withdraw a planned appeal. Within 60 days the parties have to decide how to proceed.
