Brazil increases biodiesel blend mandate to 10 percent

According to Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy, the nationwide biodiesel blend mandate has increased from 8 to 10 percent on March 1. The increase was approved by the National Energy Policy Council in December, one year ahead of schedule. The ministry stated that because of the increase from 8 to 10 percent the biodiesel demand in Brazil will grow by 1 billion liters. The estimated total biodiesel consumption in 2018 is expected to reach 5.3 billion liters.
